The owners

The farm is owned by Omer Bouchard, Jacynthe Fortin and their son Maxime. Maxime has always worked on the family farm, and he can’t see himself anywhere else. His animals and his land are his true passions. Representing the fourth generation of Bouchards at the helm of the company, the young farmer is a graduate of the Institut de technologie agroalimentaire de Saint-Hyacinthe.

Methods

The farm was modernized in 2012 with a robotic milking system and loose housing for the cows, a choice the Bouchards don’t regret for a minute. Maxime points out that robotic milking offers a multitude of possibilities, including better monitoring of the herd and higher yield. It also frees up more time for other tasks. Innovation is one of their core values, and they were among the first farms in the region to have a milking robot. They also recently planted windbreak hedges on their land. The owners are very involved in the agricultural and cooperative community.
